master suite

In every other "Dartmouth" model in Bobby's Run, the wall, where the TV is, runs all the way to the front of the house (where the large mirror is).  We put an addition on that really opened up the bedroom.  The 200+ sq ft addition added a sitting room and a closet.  The best part about the addition was that it allowed us to get rid of virtually all of our clothes-storage furniture.  It gives the room a very open feel and very comfortable to relax in any time of day.  In the photo above, you can see the sitting area with a window seat with 3 storage drawers.  The TV is wall mounted and all the equipment (cable box and DVD player) is in the closet on the other side of that wall, a very clean look.  Vaulted cielings (with a very nice Casablance ceiling fan) add to the spaciousness of the room.

This is directly towards the front of the house (the windows here overlook Whitehaven Drive).  When we bought the house, all the corners were "drywall finished" with no molding.  We added molding to all the doorways and windows, including the curved windows in the bedroom, living and family rooms.  The simple run of molding really adds to the presense of the 1/2 moon windows (not to mention that all the cheap aluminum single-hung windows the builder put in have been replaced with energy efficienct vinyl double-hung windows).

This is from the far side of the sitting room looking into the bedroom with a glimpse of the hall and master bathroom.  Note the high ceiling and spacious feel.

This is from the inside corner of the bedroom (if you look at the 2nd pic above, this is from where the "D" and "M" are on the wall).  This looks into the sitting area and the main closet.  The white door next to the TV is the original "walk in" closet (I use the term "walk in" derisively in this instance) which has been converted for shelved storage (linens, photos, off season clothes, etc).

It is hard to describe this area as a closet, it is more of a "dressing room".  It has hardwood (American Cherry) floors, a large casement window (great for ventilating the whole bedroom) and a TV (that is ours and goes with us, but a 15" TV is relatively cheap).  With approx 24 linear feet of hanging storage, 23 drawers, 4 door covered storage units and shelving for more shoes than you could possibly need (though surprising easy to fill up.  Getting dressed in the morning is a real pleasure in this room.  As a benefit, if you and your partner get up at different times, you can go in the closet and comfortably get dressed without disturbing the one left in bed.  I may have mentioned else
where that the deck is our favorite "room," but I secretly think that we both really prefer the closet.

The view from the closet (by the window) out ot the sitting area.  As long as we both shall live, this closet will be the standard by which we judge all others!

View from the bedroom into the Master Bath.  Highlight here is the beautiful Espresso vanity with Granite top and undermount sinks and beautiful brushed nickel faucets.

View from the vanity to the shower.  The shower is large enought for 2 and the room is very spacious.

This is the original "walk in" closet.  We've put in additional shelving units for storage with 2' of long-hanging (we use for off-season and occasional wear clothing).
